I'm not sure how to answer that. I mean, why do any upgrade? I like getting new versions of software to try out. I'd rather do a relatively small update every 6 months than a big one every two years. A rolling release like Arch uses feels like it might be too frequent. 6 months feels like a good cadence. Generally things don't break like this, especially on my Linode which doesn't have a huge number of packages on it. Today was an exception. In fact, I do the Linode before my desktop Ubuntu box to get a sense of what has changed. Fortunately it's much newer so it shouldn't have this particular problem. > Regarding networking, netplan is the official Ubuntu way of doing that nowadays, although it's just a yaml frontend for either NetworkManager or systemd-networkd. I had no idea. This had worked fine since I set it up in 2017 until I did the update this morning. > > Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg> > ________________________________ > From: plug <plug-bounces@lists.phillylinux.org> on behalf of Walt Mankowski via plug <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> > Sent: Saturday, 24 October 2026 17:53:11 > To: plug@lists.phillylinux.org <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> > Subject: Re: [PLUG] Ubuntu 26.10 breaks init.d > > I did some more research into this.
