Re: Wordpress, blog postings, & https://berkeleylug.com/

Hmmm, and WordPress now has confused one of my browser sessions to the point that
it's pretty much totally burning up bit more than all of one of my two
laptop cores all by itself:
8584 michael 20 0 1571604 662752 75044 S 51.1 8.1 108:34.83 firefox-esr
... anyway, kill off all the WordPress browser tabs and ...

Yeah, ... much more reasonable.

Updated okay, but ... went about like this:

Well, can't say that learning how to deal with editing and
intricacies of WordPress is especially high on my priority list.
So, ... added new blog posting - as that's basically what the
front page of
But, alas, it doesn't show at the top, ... poke a little further, there's
this "sticky" (mis?)feature that will cause a blog posting to appear at
the top. Take that off of the old outdated posting, ... still doesn't
show newest at top ... add that "sticky" thingy to the new posting ...
still doesn't put it on top.

Anyway, enough fartin' around with esoterica on something I have negligible
practical use for. If someone wants to spell out how to rectify that,
or point to the relevant documentation that answers that, please feel free.
There are also at least two besides myself that have edit access on the
site - so they could also jump in there and fix it. Anyway, until that's
rectified, the newer sticky blog posting shows second on the site,
and the outdated obsolete one with no longer correct information and giving
incorrect location and is no longer set to sticky, continues to show
at the top of the site.

Hmmmmmm... but ... after many more minutes - it finally shows in the correct
intended order ... without having changed anything further at all on the
site. WordPress ... whatever, ... at least it's now showing in the
appropriate order.

And yes, even viewed it with Lynx, to be sure there wasn't some web page
caching by the browser or such, that was preventing the update from showing.
But ... whatever, ... many minutes later, the changes finally actually show up.

And, someone called to my attention ...
though I updated:
Alas, the main page:
has conflicting outdated incorrect information.
Anyway, I expect I'll be rectifying that shortly.
Sorry I didn't catch that sooner.

(Ah, the hazards of listing the same information
in multiple locations independently).

Hey everyone,

A timely reminder here that the first BerkeleyLUG meetup of the
month is this Sunday, October 9th, 2016, from 12Noon to
3:00pm PDT at 85c Bakery, www.85cbakerycafe.com ,
located at 21 Shattuck Square in Downtown Berkeley across
the street from Bobby G's Pizzeria.

The BerkeleyLUG meetup notice is also at www.berkeleylug.com/?page_id=67

Note that this Change In Venue away from Bobby G's was
proposed at the last meetup and consensed upon afterwards
by those of us meetup participants who were present then.
Also see the previous several mailing-list postings, one
excerpt of which is delineated below.

While the Change In Venue to 85c Bakery at 21 Shattuck
Square was consensed upon for the time-being, at the
same time, I believe that one participant may still be
actively following-thru on checking out Extreme Pizza
further South on Shattuck as an alternate meetup location.
Extreme Pizza - Berkeley
2352 Shattuck Ave Berkeley, CA 94704
Phone: 510-486-0770
The SF-based Extreme Pizza Corporate Offices'
contact webpage is http://extremepizza.com/contact.php

Please feel free to bring along extra surge-protected
power strips and nice, long, grounded extension
cords for powering your various computing devices.

See you all at 85c Bakery....

~~~~~ quoting from a previous posting ~~~~~
... 85c Bakery at 21 Shattuck Square just across the street from Bobby G's.
Its website is www.85cbakerycafe.com/ and its direct contact telephone
number is 510.540.8585......
Apparently, from Duhavamir's efforts, Michael P is one of the key point
contacts for this possibility.
Thru 85c Bakery's contact info page www.85cbakerycafe.com/contact-us/ , the
RSVP possibility might involve contacting its headquarters in SoCals's
Orange County:
Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 05:00 PM
mailto: customerservice at 85cbakerycafe dot
My own RSVP preferences for 85c Bakery are threefold:
A. that 85c could indeed physically accommodate a group of we participants
at one seating all-together; maybe by putting up a big table or putting
together several smaller ones for seating 8 or more people
B. that the 85c staff could actually at least allow sufficient power
outlets/extensions so that we can actually run and recharge our Linux
and/or Android device
C that preferably *nobody* has to pay an out-of-pocket fee (e.g.,
Duhavamir, Michael P or others) for making successful reservations for
BerkeleyLUG meetups at 85c
