Actually what I had in mind for this was that we might read my book
chapters in our regular reading group for a while instead of reading
actual books. Advantages of this:

        * Nobody would have to pay money for the books.

        * My book is really interesting (not to imply that the other
books we've been reading aren't, of course)

        * My book is actually about perl, unlike some of the other
          books we've been reading lately.

        * We wouldn't have to read so much so fast: Instead of a
whole book between meetings, we'd only have a chapter,
because I can't write that fast.

        * My book might be of personal interest to the PM folks,
          because you all know me.

I hoped maybe all these things would encourage more people to
participate in reading group. And of course the other advantage for
me:

        * It would be a big help to me to have other people reading my
          drafts.

Since the suggestion is to use my book (tentatively titled `Perl
Advanced Techniques Handbook') in our regular reading discussion
group, it only applies to folks in Philadelphia who would actually be
able to show up for these meetings.

People not in Philadelphia, and anyone else who's just interested in
my book, not necessarily as part of the reading discussion group, are
invited to subscribe to my book announcements list by sending a blank
note to mjd-book-subscribe@plover.com. I expect to have an
announcement Real Soon Now.

Thanks for your time.
