I'd like to start tech talks again. I thought up three things I could talk about while we were at OCT tonight, and given more time I can come up with others. o the local::lib talk I gave at YAPC::NA::2010[0]. This ran about 20 minutes at YAPC. I could beef it up to 30 and probably will do for PLUG. o modern tools for sending email more robustly (and lots of options if you need them). If I covered *everything* that's available, this could probably cover 20-30 minutes assuming I start at the beginning and work up to the more complex stuff. You may not need the complex stuff unless you're Pobox, but it's *really useful* when you need it. One daily production use is templated multipart emails that include both HTML and graphics, sharing content between the two. o using andLinux for local perl development on Windows. Not specifically perl; I'll crosspost this to PLUG and see if there's any interest there. I have the local::lib talk finished (can always use more polish), the latter two need to be written. The email talk is of course code-heavy, but thankfully I can mostly copy-paste from synopses. :D The andLinux talk would require less in the way of slides, more a live demo sort of thing. I've fiddled with it enough of late to feel comfortable giving a live demo (famous last words...). Anyone else interested in giving a tech talk? Or want to hear something you think I might know about but I didn't mention? To allegedly paraphrase Picasso[1]: Give me a space to speak in and I'll fill it with my voice.
