The chipset is supposedly USB3 and the Flash drive is supposed to be USB 3 (advertising mentioned "with ultra-fast transfer speeds up to 400MB/s").

I'll see how it goes.  My previous "lite" laptop ran Xubuntu (Ubuntu with an XFCE flavor) so I'll see how it goes.

If your USB drive is USB2, that's why your computer is slow.

In my opinion that should be plenty if you use a non-bloated WM/DE
(Window Manager / Desktop Environment). Try LXDE or Openbox. Also, make
sure you run only one browser instance, with a maximum of two tabs.
