WordPerfect 8 for Linux

Hi All,

The final version of WordPerfect 8 for Linux is available for free
download from

   http://www.download.com

The file to get is:

ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/simtelnet/cnet/win95/business/GUILG/GUILG00.GZ

This is a tar gzip file, that does not follow the standard naming
format. To set up the system, I made a directory /usr/local/wp8/. Put
GUILG00.GZ in this directory and rename it
so that it makes sense to you. For myself I named it wp8-linux.tar.gz.

When you unpack the tar ball you will get a Runme file that will unpack
and setup the program for your system. I noticed that after
installation is complete there is some left over base files from the tar
file. that are identical to what is in the tar file. These have a .bk
extension and I think that they are just taking up disk space. I
haven't verified this yet.

Also when setting up your menus for x, make sure that the entire path is
in the Exec name as follows for fvwm2:

+ "Word Perfect 8" Exec /usr/local/wp8/wpbin/xwp

Putting a symbolic link in the standard bin directory to the executables
in wpbin does not work.

Also during the install procedure, you are prompted for a license number
from Corel Corp. Just do what the program asks and get your license.

Have a great day:-)
