WordPerfect 8 for Linux

Hi All

On Thursday of this week WordPerfect 8 for Linux arrived in my mail
box. I bought the personal version for the following reasons.

Corel now is active in the Linux community and they have shown their
willingness to support the open source movement with the release of the
netwinder computer.

The package includes
WordPerfect Draw
Netscape 3.2
Adobe Acrobat Reader
A Software Development Kit
Online Manual

Attempting to install the CDROM eas a problem sinse I forgot that Debian
defaults the mount command that iso9660 file system is mounted as
noexec. So when I tried to execute the shell script install.wp I ended
up with permission denied. Needless to say ls -lF indicated that I had
read and write permissions across the board. Finally I checked the
mounted file systems and discovered the problem.

The install went a lot easier than the install procedure for the
downloaded tarball.

There is one item that is important and that is that it should not be
installed as root. if you do, the fix is:

chown login:login path/wp8/* -R
chown login:login /etc/magic
rm -r /tmp/wpc*

"login" is a user login name

see their web site http://linux.corel.com/linux8/linuxfix.htm for
details.

At the present I am very pleased with the results and the
documentation.

Have a good day :-)
