GNOME defines a language and platform-independent API atop which the GNOME-aware window manager sits, and an API for communication among GNOME-aware applications. Specifically, the CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) design allows for coding-independent applicaton communication, similar to OLE from the windows world (dragging), session-aware applications with the possibility of restoring from a saved session, document standardization, OpenGL support, and so forth. It does this in open-source. KDE uses QT, and thus is not OSS. --Vik -- To unsubscribe, send a message with the word 'unsubscribe' in the subject or body of your message to plug-request@lists.nothinbut.net
