there was a lengthy discussion concerning the partition structure, the result of which was that unless you have a specific application for *NIX, which results in substantial data for a particular directory tree, it really is a matter of choice. For example, if you are running a proxy, you want to have /var on a seperate partition, or if you have loads of users, put /home on a seperate partition. But if you are running for a standard home system, it really doesn't matter..... or rather everyone has their own opinion, and each one is correct... :> We talked for a few about a convention, ..umm..anyone else want to add?
