Vale, I though (and I am sure other list members will correct me if I am wrong) 512 was the kernel image size limit. I was also under the impression that swap space was limit 128 MB and anything over that was not used. After reading that you got the zImage too big use bzImage begs the question why you did not use bzImage. I have not (in my limited Linux experience heard of or had problems with bzImage but as usual your mileage may vary. How big in a average sized kernel?? I am running RH6.0, and trying to do a kernel recompile, to solve another problem (but that's another email :) ) and I have almost everything either excluded, or moduled (under menuconfig), and still make zImage tells me it is too big, to use bzImage. Finally, I get it down to 479K, after excluding some things that were suggested to be included, zImage worked, but trying to run make zlilo to install, zlilo says it's too big again... so how large should a kernel be? I have an absolutely minimal config.. for reference... 96 megs NCR SCSI W/F Matrox Millenium 3com Vortex (905? I can;t remember right now) SB AWE 64 USR 56k No dos, no dual boot mount points are (nod to the conversation, I just decided to use them all... :> ) / 1G /sda3 /boot 300M /sda1 /usr 1G /sda4 /swap 200M /sda2 /var 1G /sdb2 /home 2G /sdb1 /tmp 1G /sdb3 /storage2G /sdb4 I don't think all of this information is needed, but...JIC Peace, Vale _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ Plug maillist - Plug@lists.nothinbut.net http://lists.nothinbut.net/mail/listinfo/plug
