[Plug] power management?

Can Linux do power management, for instance set the CPU in a sleep state and spin down the hard drive? I'm using an AT mobo, Pentium 200, nothing fancy.. the system is Mandrake 5.3, which is based on RH 5.2, kernel 2.0.36.
