I did some investigation. From the Caldera OpenLinux 2.2 End User License agreement: <snip, opening legal stuff> (a) "Caldera Systems Software" consists of the following computer programs: 1. Lizard Install System <snip, other "Caldera System Software" and other legal stuff> Caldera Systems (or its licensor, if applicable) owns the copyrights and intellectual property in and to each item of Caldera Systems Software. <snip, lots a giberish> 4. License of Caldera Systems Software. Subject to the other provisions of this Agreement, Caldera Systems grants to Licensee a nonexclusive, nontransferable license to use the Caldera Systems Software on a single computer (the "License"). Use of the Caldera Systems Software on additional computers requires the purchase of additional licenses from Caldera Systems at Caldera Systems's then-current prices. Rights to Caldera Systems Software not expressly granted to Licensee in this Agreement are reserved by Caldera Systems. <snip, rest of document> Sure sounds like proprietary software to me. I guess the QPL is like the LGPL in that you can write software that uses the library and doesn't have to be free, even though the library software itself is free. Its kind of ironic that "OpenLinux" would have a proprietary installer. Although Caldera seems like a good deal for a newbie wanting ease of installation and Wordperfect, all for 50 beans.
