[Plug] compile question - sort of :(

Here is a question for the group

	I just did a compile of the kernel on a new RH 6.0 install.
everything seemed to go fine. I modified lilo.conf so that the
original default kernel is vmlinuz.safe and the new kernel is
vmlinuz.test.  the version in question is 2.2.5.  When booting the test
kernel the system hangs at finding module dependancies. 

Any sugestions
