I want to set apache 1.3.3 to use a msql database for password
authentication. Support for msql says that I need to 'change the
util_script.c file, by adding the line
#define SECURITY_HOLE_PASS_AUTHORIZATION
This allows Apache to send the authorization headers.'

Now i installed Apache and Linux off a Red Hat 5.2 cd.
Questions:
1. Such an installation probably did no put source code anywhere on my hard
drives right?
2. If I have to get the source code and recompile it, is there a
traditional place in the linux directory structure to store source code?
3. When i recompile - I just write over the existing httpd executable in my
/usr/sbin directory right?
