Did you read what they wrote in the MSWord box? This guy Xhosted someone else's desktop, who was running Linux and running Windows through VMWare.. so the only costs there were Windows, VMWare, and Word. :) No MS Windows X server involved in this screenshot. I believe MicroImages X server and TWM (Tiny Window Manager) is a free X server that works with Windows.. but I believe is it for running X apps on A Win machine, and not the other way around... I think you can do that with VNC too, there is even some sort of Java thing that lets you view someone else's desktop in a Java capable web browser. I think that's free, I'm not sure, but it works on a variety of OS"s. -- Michelle Weber umweber@mcs.drexel.edu On Fri, 30 Jul 1999, Tracy Nelson wrote: > -----Original Message----- > From: Nick R <laktar@hotmail.com> > Date: Friday, July 30, 1999 14:36 > > > >Anybody know of something like that but that lets you run Mac binaries on > >Linux? > >& how's WINE coming along? > > > It sounds to me like they just xhosted some Windows apps -- nothing special. > All the apps are still running on the Windows box, they just display on the > Linux box.
