That's a security feature to prevent brute force cracking attempts. I was going to try that on that LinuxPPC but I ended up figuring that between getting 4 attempts per connection, taking about 12 seconds to get those attempts out, the likelyhood that the pass is practically line noise, and figuring a password of 8 characters it would take me about 4.3 million years to crack the machine.
