[Plug] Client/Daemon Versions?

Hey,
A simple question that's been bothering me... (even though it seems
quite simple). But other then viewing man pages and searching through
logfiles, does anyone know of another way to find the version of
installed client/server apps (such as telnet, ssh, shells, etc)? Just
curious. Thanks in advance.
