It's a possibility. Although I had no hassles with 10Ns differences under NT, there were major complications under Solaris for Intel. I'm not saying my idea is correct, 'cause I have no sound technical basis for this. I'm just speaking from experience, but 10 Ns may may make a difference. My 32MB simms are at 60ns and the 8MB simms are at 70ns. -----Original Message----- From: Vale_Kenny@vanguard.com To: plug@lists.nothinbut.net Sent: 8/11/99 10:56 AM Subject: Re: [Plug] Signal 11 error If that was a fix for the problem, I'd seriously consider looking at the speed of your SIMMs. If you have one fast set and one slow set, that could cause the problem you mention. When I was trying to setup Solaris for Intel, I kept getting trap errors, and it appeard that they were related to SIMM speed. I'm not completely convinced that, this was the solution. I'll probably do some more troubleshooting later on. Thanx again guys -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Libby To: plug@lists.nothinbut.net Sent: 8/11/99 8:45 AM Subject: Re: [Plug] Signal 11 error Greetings, I had this same problem with some older AMD and Cyrix chips. I found that replacing the chip with a true intel chip fixed the problem. In general, my problem only reared it's head when I was doing very large compilations, kernel, gcc, etc, very frustrating. In my case I found the URL you sight to be very helpful, but the only thing that helped was to replace the processor.
