[Plug] Kernel problems

I just tried to recompile my kernel.  Everything appeared ok, but when I
booted up, some incorrect kernel version messages flew by.  When I typed
'ps' I got a message that said 'system.map has an incorrect kernel version'.
Did I miss something?
