   You could buy a separate hard drive and try that approach.  It would
   reduce the potential to kill the host ... and keeps the two systems
   up and available at the same time.

   I use IRIX as well (as well as a bunch of others) and wouldn't say it
   was my favorite, but it's certainly not my least favored Unix.
