Um, how is this possible? Doesn't their patent only cover the LZW 
compression algorithm? I thought anybody could decompress it for free? This 
is just crazy. It'll be funny though if geoshitties and the like start 
banning .gif files along with mp3s.

Say, why can't you just make a new algorithm that has the same effect so 
that it wouldn't be covered by the patent?
