Actually, Mailman (the mailing list software that this list uses) is very good at handling bounced messages and other delivery problems... as long as the MTA on the other end functions correctly. All messages sent out through Mailman have the list admin address included in the headers as the address failures should go to (I don't remember the name of the header). The problem we just experienced stemmed from the MTA involved not using that header but using the Reply-to header. Michael W.
