Yes, but that's really the case with any mailing list manager. Setting the list to only accept posts from subscribed members would've prevented the messages from going to the list, but it would've wound up being stuck in the admin request queue for the list, requiring a list admin to approve or reject the messages. I'm not sure I'd recommend limitting the list in that way, as having an open list makes it easy for people who just want to have a question answered to post the message without having to subscribe.
