I'm not sure, but I think that the kits you're talking about may be only for
networking over a phone line or the power lines in your home.  If those are
the ones you're talking about, I've heard some not-too-flattering things
about the connection speed and reliability, and I'm not sure what protocols
they support, and if Linux supports them, or if the software would even run
under Linux.  OTOH, does anyone know if a null-modem connection across the
serial ports would work?  I'm new to Linux, just guessing here.
