MS operating systems have no real security. Linux and other operating systems have layers of security. You can assign permissions not only to programs but to users. Someone can poetentially write a virus or worm for one of these systems, but the user or system manager has to grant it permission to run (that's it in a nut shell). There have been Trojan Horse type programs around that do much the same things as viruses and worms, but the user has to be duped into running them.
