Ha! I finally fixed my timezone problem. I had to create a symlink /usr/lib/zoneinfo that points to /usr/share/zoneinfo. I don't know how this got screwed up. I suppose RedHat changed the default directory for zoneinfo, but the rest of my system forgot to look in the new share directory after getting hacked. Oh well.
