I know that when you save routing, interface etc info through the graphical tool
netcfg (which you usually call though control-panel), the information gets saved in
serveral files under the /etc/sysconfig directory.  This info is then picked up and
executed by the /etc/rc.d/init.d/network script at startup.

I don't think it saves this stuff if your are using the route and ifconfig tools
directly.
