If the symbios is a PCI card, swap places with the Megaraid.  That is, 
physically swap slots.

If not, I bet the bios on the megaraid is activated.  Turn it off...

I ran into the same "problem" in a system that's got an AHA2940U2W
w/ a 9G OS/swap drive, and a megaraid with 5 18G U2W's in a RAID5.

Swapping the PCI slots did the trick, then it occurred to me that I 
most likely could have avoided that by just disabling the bios on the
megaraid.

BTW, I'm referring to a megaraid 466, YMMV.
