Philip Greenspun, author of "Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing," will be giving two talks on the Penn campus, April 8th and 9th, from 10-5 each day. A short bio and description for each talk is below, as well as directions to where each talk will be held. Dr. Greenspun developed MIT's course "Software Engineering of Innovative Web Services," which is also being taught at Caltech and Stanford. He is also the CEO of Ars Digita, a company that builds open-source enterprise software and uses it to support their business as a mass-customized application service provider (ASP). Starting with his first community based website <http://photo.net>, a forum for photographers that gets more than a million hits a day, Dr. Greenspun has developed more that 200 database-backend Web sites. He is also the author of "SQL for Web Nerds" and "Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing". Philip will be giving two talks on the weekend of April 8th and 9th. Registration forms are available from the links below, and while registration is _not_ required to attend these talks, it is encouraged. Saturday April 8th 10-5 in Stiteler Hall B-26 From 9-10, there will be an informal gathering for coffee. Philip will be giving his Web Application Design" class. This class covers "the big picture" of designing applications for the web, specifically user-centered Web-sites.
