I don't know why people are considering this subject offtopic.  Microsoft
Is Linux's main competitor.  I would think it's future would be very on
topic.

Of course there's the argument that we should stop worrying about what
Microsoft is doing, and instead spend our energy on improving Linux.

Either way, I think the great majority of the people on this list have
some interest in the subject, which would then make it a very acceptable
topic.
