Re: [PLUG] Xfree86 4.0

[If I just sent out a blank email, sorry. Anyway...]

OK, so I've installed X but when I run startx I get this mess:

System: '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/xkbcomp -w 1 -R/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb -xkm -m us -em1 "The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:" -emp "> " -eml "Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server" keymap/xfree86 compiled/xfree86.xkm' Warning: /dev/psaux unable to get status of mouse fd (Inappropriate ioctl for device)

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

yadda yadda yadda. Anyway, I tried looking this error up on Google. Seems that someone else (http://lists.openresources.com/Debian/debian-user/msg00295.html) had a similar problem over a year ago. However, in that case the fixed.pcf.gz file actually existed. It does not exist on my computer and it seems that it is what X is looking for. It's a Debian potato system, I used apt-get to install XFree3.3.6. Anyone know where I could get that file or where I can go to find out more? The documentation on xfree86.org didn't seem to cover this problem. Thanks.

Well going by http://www.xfree86.org/4.0/Status.html the G400 is supposed
to be supported under the mga driver, but supported and actually getting
it to work the way you would like is usually two different things.
