I just recently had this problem too.. for some reason xfstt got messed up
and wouldn't load.. I just reinstalled xfstt and X worked again..
I'm assuming X was screaming because it couldn't load something that was
listed in it's FontPath.. so if theres a FontPath in your XF86Config that
doesn't really exist, comment it out and X should work..
