Some cut'n'paste output would be very helpful. What is the command you used to mount the CD-ROM? Is your CD-ROM device listed in your /etc/fstab? (This, of course, can affect what parameters are required for the mount command.) From the dep't-of-the-obvious: Are you specifying the same directory both times? Example: ~$ ls /mnt/cdrom [...directory listing here...] ~$ ls -l total 0 ~$ >so I downloaded gnome-pilot-0.1.51 from >www.gnome.org/gnome-pilot/download, >gunzipped, etc., and ran configure, and was told that I have to specify >host type. what is my host type? Here are a couple of lines of output from the 'set' command on my system: HOSTNAME=wally HOSTTYPE=i686 I don't know if that's what it's asking for or not. I'm also not sure where $HOSTTYPE is set; I suspect that it's set from one of your init scripts (again, I'm being Captain Obvious <g>), but I'm not sure which one, or even where to look on yours, as I've not used RedHat. Hopefully, someone else might be able to provide some better/more detailed information. HTH, Bill -- >Ever heard of .cshrc? | "Linux means never having to delete That's a city in Bosnia.
