I'll be running Athelon 667 Mhz, 256MB RAM, 20 GB HD.
I asked for an Win2K machine since I needed to test specific software and
didn't want to have to deal with incompatibilities I experienced with
certain "standard" hardware on my linux box. As a result, I am not looking
for raw speed, but rather the ability to test our software under the
environments for which it is targetted ( Win95,98,982E, NT 4, Win2K and
Linux (after Kylix is released)).

I've done this in both directions.. That is, run VMWare under Win2k
to run Linux, and run VMWare under Linux to run Win2k.
On the same hardware:
PIII/500
256 MB RAM
20G 7200RPM IBM IDE Disk
Running Linux on the hardware and Win2k in the VM was much faster than
the other way around...
Same goes on my Dual Celeron 477, also w/256 MB RAM.
