[PLUG] copying harddisks

hey all,

just to confirm - if i have two identical harddisks, then having them
both in a linux system, unmounted, and doing a

dd if=/dev/hdb of=/dev/hdc

should copy hdb onto hdc and make hdc automatically mountable/bootable
if hdb was, that being file system independent, right?

and then if i wanted to wipe a disk, doing

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdb

a couple of times would securely screw all data on there...

thanks for confirming (or giving better methods).

martin
