hey all, because of power management features, lilo on my notebook used to be installed at /dev/hda1 with that partition marked bootable. that was on a 6Gb drive and i just now updated to a 12Gb drive and wanted to do the same. my partition table looks as follows: Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1467 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hda1 * 1 2 16033+ 83 Linux /dev/hda2 3 35 265072+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda3 36 1431 11213370 5 Extended /dev/hda5 36 99 514048+ 83 Linux /dev/hda6 100 546 3590496 83 Linux /dev/hda7 547 801 2048256 83 Linux /dev/hda8 802 1311 4096543+ 83 Linux /dev/hda9 1312 1375 514048+ 83 Linux /dev/hda10 1376 1431 449788+ 83 Linux now, when i install lilo at /dev/hda1, the boot process doesn't load it. no bios error message not anything. the notebook (dell latitude cpi-a) just sits there at the black screen and waits (and beeps back at keystrokes). if i install lilo into /dev/hda (the mbr), then it works, but that means that my power management features (suspend2disk) will be rendered unusable. any ideas? thanks, martin [greetings from the heart of the sun]# echo madduck@!#:1:s@\@@@.net -- the nice thing about windoze is - it does not just crash, it displays a dialog box and lets you press 'ok' first. ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
