well, that didn't fix it all, but now i found the error:

local_recipient_maps ... i had that blank and in a chroot, so whenever
a mail arrived for an unknown user, it didn't know the user didn't
exist (i forgot to provide etc/passwd) and hung itself up on that.

fixed.
