Most of the hardware sites these days publish Value & High-end PC
guides.  I think Ars was the first that I remember.  www.anandtech.com
has a good one as well, especially the value box.

You can't beat pricewatch for information and great deals.  I find you
get the same deal at the PC show if you add the shipping to the
pricewatch price.

Ars Technica has some good information at
http://arstechnica.com/guide/index.html (although their "budget box"
weighs in at ~US$850).  Pricewatch is a good place to look, too.
