I dont think there is a supported rpm for the 2.4 kernel yet.

so yes you need to install the standard kernel.

The kernel bundled with RH7 is 2.2.16-22 .   I've looked around the
redhat site for any info on the 2.4 kernel on RH, and all I can find is
that they testing it.

Do I need to use the std non-RH kernel if I want 2.4 on RH?
