Probably a hardware issue, I would guess.  ps/2 Isn't really supposed to
be hot-swap is it?  I dont remember what it was.. but I was just reading
something on some ps/2 device that specifically said to turn off the
computer before plugging it in, and it didnt seem like a "people are so
stupid so we gotta say this or they'll sue us" sort of thing.
 
USB is hotswap, anybody know what else?  sure, 9 times out of 10 you're
not going to totally blow the chip/componets... but you never know.

And dont forget they now have USB cuecats, and those 'tv cables' which are
basically just rca --> audio plug.
