After upgrading to Woody, I find that gnome thinks that all glyphs are variations on squares. (Emacs, xterm, gnome-terminal, etc. all display real fonts. It's the window titles, tool tips, etc. that are messed up.) I tried removing ~/.gnome* to no avail. The gnome config widget also has squares for glyphs. So are buttons and things in many other apps (all gtk+, I think). Any idea where this is set? I haven't found a google query that gives me any good info.
