Chris, you still looking for numbers? This looks mostly like license/software costs, rather than overall productivity gains kind of numbers. Altho they do mention the decreased number/configuration of servers/desktops as a savings. From: http://www.linuxtoday.com/news_story.php3?ltsn=2001-11-28-011-20-OS-BZ-MS We have put together a pricing comparison between Linux/Open Source technologies and Windows/Microsoft's technologies for sample organisations of size 50, 100 and 250 staff. We are targeting non-IT organisational/financial management within companies. We consider this a draft document and seek your readers' comments and feedback. We feel that with the current belt-tighening within the IT industry, if we can convince management to spend more money on IT staff payroll (even hiring more staff) rather than pay for ever-spiralling Microsoft licences, we all win. Note, this is a largish PDF file. Feel free to mirror. http://www.stampede.org/~matt/linux_vs_windows_pricing_comparison.pdf (Primary link, ~4.4 MB PDF) http://www.cyber.com.au/cyber/about/linux_vs_windows_pricing_comparison.pdf (Mirror) ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Shank" <wshank@mbcnet.com> To: <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> Sent: Tuesday, November 13, 2001 9:23 AM Subject: [PLUG] need stats!! stat! > I'm putting together a win vs. linux business comparison and need to find > some numbers relating to installation, maintenance, service and other TCO > for both windows and linux.
