so 2.2r4 is woody right? does the default support usb, firewire, pcmcia, journaled fs? -----Original Message----- From: Fred K Ollinger To: ''plug@lists.phillylinux.org' ' Sent: 1/3/02 2:24 PM Subject: RE: [PLUG] Debian specs? > if i get the latest stable release of debian, what kernel does it use by > default? does that kernel have usb, firewire, fb, journaled fs support, or > will i need to create a custom kernel to get this. i've never had a lot of > success creating my own kernels, so this is source of concern for me. Get the woody (unstable) distro. Woody is plenty stable and getting perfect. Potato is too old for any but vanilla server (and rock solid desktop) use. Kernels are tougher to compile, IMHO (very humble here, friends) opinion in rh. I'm still stuck trying to get one to work here. It worked great in debian everytime, but the stock kernels are a good place to start.
