I doubt they do that, but the experiences I've had with LinkSys drivers on our network at work would make me think about blocking their prefix specifically. I *do* think the trolls at ComCast have implemented something in their DHCP server that checks against a table so that they only allow one IP address per customer (based on computer name & ethernet address) so that they can charge for the "Multiple IP Connections for Networked Computers Only" feature (a mere $6.95 per IP address per month) ... and that this gobbet of bad logic is what prevents people from switching their cable modem-connected device as easily as they used to. andrew.
