Right. Windows resolves NetBIOS names by broadcasts. Unless the two PCs are on different subnets, they will resolve each others names automatically. If they are on different subnets, the LMHOSTS file, a WINS server (Samba), Dynamic DNS, or a persistent IP/name pair is needed.
