[PLUG] Logging question

My mail server is sending it's logs to /var/log/mail.log (which is what
I want), but is *also* writing the same info to /var/log/syslog - which
I don't want. I know (or think I know :-) that I have to change the
syslog.conf, but I'm unclear as to what to change, and to what.

/etc/syslog.conf has:
*.*;auth,authpriv.none -/var/log/syslog
mail.* -/var/log/mail.log

Is the *.* why everything is doubled? And should it be that way?
