I can even ping any netvista on 10.2.0.0 network. Is the netvista the only machine that isn't 10.1.2.x ? > > I thought this was a network issue, but the fact that the W2K machine, > which is on the same hub, has no problem at all makes me think it is a > Linux issue. I've never heard of someone seeing this and it being a Linux issue. It is far more likely to be a configuration issue. There is a way to make this work, the question is simply what. So, until someone with more experience chimes in, I'll continue shooting in the dark: 1) I'll assume that your hub has lights, most do. When you ping from the RH to the Win2K, the light for the sender and reciever flicker. What about when you try to ping from RH to netvista? How about the other way around? 2) Do you have any services running on the RH box? ping, a type of icmp protocol, isn't working. How about http, ftp, smtp, telnet, shh or something else that uses tcp or udp? Background : how are the boxes getting their IP configs? static, dhcp? What is a netvista? greg ______________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group - http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements-http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mail/listinfo/plug
