You can change the ready message displayed in the LCD of HP laserjet printers by sending a PJL (HP's command set for printer-specific commands) command. The form of the message is this: <ESC>%-12345X@PJL JOB RDYMSG DISPLAY = "message" I like to set the ready messge to be "Insert Quarter", "Game Over", or something similarly whimsical.
