While we're on the subject of SSL, I should point out that when I mentioned that I used telnet at the PLUG meeting, several people gasped. I explained why I used Telnet instead of SSH (SSH port not available, and needed telnet on the server for other reasons), but I didn't mention that the telnet is actually Telnet-SSL capable. When you connect to the daemon, it negotiates between the client and server, and if they both support ssl, they use it, otherwise, they work fine in non-SSL mode.
