[PLUG] SCSI Controller recomendation

I can't seem to use the scsi the drives i salvaged from an AS/400. My
current controller is an adaptec aha-2940W that can go up to 20MB.sec. it
has 50 pin and 68 pin internal conectors and a 68pin external. it can handle
up to 15 devices. however, the manufacturer says that it can only recognize
up 8G drives, and i think that the scsi drives are 9.1G - but the controller
thinks they are 4.3G. Also, the drives are recognized as capable of 40MB/sec.

I can see the disk on the scsi bus but cannot fdisk it at all (in either dos
or linux). i figure it's either a firmware issue leftover from the AS/400 or
it's the controller.

I need to find a scsi controller that will be compatible with these drives,
without breaking the bank. can anyone recommend a model that i might be able
to find used, that would meet the 40Mb/sec spec?

thanks
